Arlberg, the book, is a result of a commissioned body of work which Tim Hall undertook in the winter and spring of 2008, and covers the area that makes up the Arlberg: Lech, Oberlech, St Anton, St Christoph, Zürs and Zug.

During the course of the project Tim rediscovered his love of these mountains, where he has skied and walked over the years, giving him a deeper understanding of the ‘Spirit of Place’. These images have a crispness coupled with sumptuous colour that capture the mountains, hills and valleys over the progress of the seasons, providing an insight into what makes the Arlberg unique. Much of Tim’s photography has a painterly feel purposefully blurring the lines between photography and painting, to create images that are evocative and magical.

Tim studied at Manchester University and since graduating has produced collections of landscape photography on Morocco, Dune, a series of black and white photographs of the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert. In 2006, Tim focussed on the British landscape, inspired by Rothko and Turner; in the Coast series provokes a simple human emotional response to the natural environment. His fascination with the sea continued with Storm, in 2007, a series of images of an approaching storm, which are almost abstract manner.

Tim has exhibited widely, nationally and internationally, including the Royal Academy Summer Show 2009. He lives with his wife and two children in South West London.
